Jerry Nelson

Gerald “Jerry” Allen Nelson, 79, of Wister, OK passed away Friday, March 06, 2015 in Poteau, OK.  Jerry was born in Poteau on November 7, 1935 to Albert & Versa (Hensley) Nelson.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Wister.  He worked as a carpenter.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Artha Smith, Frances Gregory & Lavera Hicks; 4 brothers, James, Joe, Merrel & Darrell Nelson.

Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae of the home; children, Rita Jones of Poteau, OK, Brenda & Jack Martin, Freddy & Pat Nelson, Nikki Nelson & Phil Hamlin all of Wister, OK, Eddie & Lisa Nelson of Howe; 11 grandchildren; Eric McClain, Wade & Jake Knight, Amber McGowen, Ashlie Nelson, Autumn Goad, Christine Ginther, Tyler Nelson, Whitney Wellman, Justin & Bailie Hamlin; 14 great grandchildren & one “tater” on the way; 1 brother, Charles Wayne Nelson of Noble, OK; other relatives & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister, OK with Bros. Clyde Steelman and Jack Covey officiating.  Burial will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister.  Pallbearers will be Jim Knight, Tyler Nelson, John Jones, Doug Percifield, Trent Wellman, Randy Ginther, Justin Hamlin.  Honorary pallbearers will be   Eric McClain, Alston Washburn, Jake Knight, Wade Knight, Shawn Goad, Wes McGowen, Bruce McClain, Bill Bullard, and Howard Cagle.
