James Laurel "Dick" Dickson

USAF CMSgt (Ret) James Laurel “Dick” Dickson, 80, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 28, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center.
 
He was born April 4, 1934 in Wister, Oklahoma, a son of the late O.E. and Gertie Green Dickson.  Following his graduation from Pine Bluff High School, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in 1952, he entered the U.S. Air Force.  During his career he had been stationed in Japan, Europe, and in the U.S., including Moody Air Force Base (Valdosta), Alabama, Texas, and Travis Air Force Base in California where he retired from Aircraft Quality Control.  Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
 
Mr. Dickson is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruby Corbett Dickson of Valdosta; one son and daughter-in-law, James “Sandy” Dickson, Jr. and Vicki of Valdosta; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia Tollefsen and Al of Valdosta, and Lauri Brady of Wenatchee, WA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Cecil Dickson of Wister, Ernest Dickson of Oakland, OR, Denver Dickson of Wister, Melvin Dickson of Covington, OK, and Charlie Wayne Dickson of Wister; and two sisters, Lorene Dickson Naylor of Heavner, OK, and Betty Dickson of Oakland, OR.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laurel Anne Brady.
 
A Memorial Service for Mr. Dickson will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev.
