Leo D. Sulivant



Leo Dempsey Sulivant, 79, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2013.  

A lifelong resident of Oklahoma, Leo was born November 11, 1934, in Latham, to the late Erastus N. and Beulah Faye (Cagle) Sulivant.  Leo enjoyed a rewarding career driving trucks for the US Postal Service.  He was a proud veteran having served in the US NAVY during the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Conway.

Leo was a beloved member of the community and is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Glenn Thompson of Poteau, OK; Gayla Hall and fiancé Jesus "Chuy" Sanchez; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Beatriz Sulivant of Sand Springs, OK; Fred and Lori Harper of Valrico, FL; Rob and Raleah Harper of Lawton, Ok; mother of his children, Erma Sulivant of Poteau, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Sulivant of McComb, OK; sister, Erma Faye Conway of Moore, OK; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many cherished relatives, loved ones, and innumerable dear friends. 

   Leo had a long fulfilling life in which he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.  He will be greatly missed.  

Services will be held at Evans Chapel of Memories at 10am, Thursday, December 12, 2013, in Poteau, OK.  Rev. Jim Cook will be officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, Ok.  Pallbearers will be Dustin Reece, Frank DeHart, Jim Schrodt, Bob Lindstrom and Paul Stottsberry.

    I was saddened to learn of Uncle Leo's passing. I have very fond memories of him, especially as a child. I will always treasure the bond we shared.
