Jewel Cox



Jewel Cox, 88, of Cameron, OK was called home to be with the Lord Friday, December 13, 2013 in Cameron.  Jewel was born August 24, 1925 in Rock Island, OK to Fred & Jannie (Murray) Edwards. She was an engraver at Johnson Controls for 34 years.    She was a graduate of Rock Island School.  Jewel was a longtime member of Rock Island Free Will Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, song leader and secretary.  She was a great farm hand and loved the outdoors, enjoying gardening, sewing and quilting.  Jewel was very active in the community and supported local sports teams.   Although she had no children of her own she was a mother to many.  Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony Cox; brothers, Jackie Edwards (11/27/13), Loyd Edwards; sisters Letis Rausch, Edith Vanscoy; stepson, Gaylon Cox; step daughters, Margaret & Patsy; great nephews, Joshua Edwards & Greg Butler.

Survivors include her loving sister in law, Peggy Edwards of Cameron, OK; nieces & nephews, Freddie & Trudy Edwards of Cameron, Jonathan & Judy Edwards of Wimberley, TX, Rhoda & Steve Butler of Ft. Worth, TX, Rebekah Edwards of Cameron, OK, Rhonda & Noble McIntyre of Oklahoma City, OK; Cindi, Mindy, Tom, Shanna, Sheila and John; many great nieces & nephews, great great nieces & nephews; stepdaughter in law, Georgeann Cox of Hackett, AR; step grandchildren, Duane Cox, Randy Cox, Gala Moses, Ramona Holden all of Hackett, AR; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 10 am, Monday, December 16, 2013 at Rock Island Free Will Baptist Church, Rock Island, OK with Rev. Brad Kuhl & Rev. Steve Butler officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK.  Pallbearers will be Timothy, Kevin, Eric, Jasper, & Jaxon Edwards, Grant Butler.

The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Gideon’s International by contacting the funeral home
