Joe Dean Cooper, 80, of Poteau, OK passed away
Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Ft. Smith, AR. Joe was born February 15, 1933 in Monroe, OK
to William Robert “Rob” & Pearl Lucille (Dedmon) Cooper. He was born and raised in the Monroe-Poteau
Area and is a member of Double
Branch Baptist
Church. He served in the US Army from 1953-1956 in
the infantry, Charlie Battery 64th
Field Artillery Division. He was a
painter & carpenter for 52 years.
Joe enjoyed being the sound man for Betty as she sang at different
churches and functions throughout the years.
He coached Green Country Baseball League for several years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; 2
sisters & 2 brothers, Martha, Wanda Sue, Bobby Gene, Jerry.
He is survived by his wife
of 55 years, Betty L. Alexander Cooper; mother in law, Etta Florene (Flo)
Oliver Alexander Bowman; brother in law, Wayne Mahan; sister in law, Josephine
Cooper; one son, Kelly Dean & wife Karla Cooper of Poteau; one daughter,
Regina Lou McAlister & husband Rick of Sulphur, OK; two grandsons, Dustin
& wife Heather Cooper of Roland, Kyle & wife Brittnie Cooper of Ft.
Smith; two granddaughters, Krystal & James McMillion of Sulphur, Samie
Williamson & fiancé Matthew Thomas of Wichita Falls, TX; 2 great
grandchildren born to Dustin & Heather, McKenna & Landon Joe; two
brothers, William (Dickie) & wife Ann, Ronald (Ron) & wife Beverly of
Poteau, OK; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.
Memorial services will be
10 am, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK
with Rev. Phil McGehee & Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
The family will be at the
funeral home from 9:15 until service time to visit with relatives &
friends.
In lieu of flowers
contributions can be made to Local Dialysis Unit
