Shirley Jean Neff

Shirley Jean Neff, 61, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 in Wister. Shirley was born in Poteau, OK on November 21, 1950 to Paul & Rachel (Kelley) Nichols. She was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Paulette Nichols; and husband, Joe Neff. Shirley was the family prankster, her sense of humor and practical jokes will be greatly missed. Shirley’s greatest love in life was her family; especially her grandkids. Nothing brought her greater joy that being called “Mamaw”. She was the community Mamaw. Everyone called her Mamaw. She placed cherished mementos into memory jars throughout the years as reminders of the special moments spent with loved ones. Survivors include her daughters, Marie Pitchford of Poteau, OK, Shawna Martin of Wister, OK; son, Jon Sloan of Wister, OK; 7 grandchildren, Clint Baker, Blake Neff, Bryce Martin, Wyatt Pitchford, Dawson Pitchford, Brody Martin, Sadie Sloan; brothers, Frank Nichols Sr. of Tulsa, OK, Larry Nichols of Cameron, OK; father, Paul Nichols of Gilmore, OK; extended Donaho family; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends. Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Frank Nichols Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Springhill Cemetery, Monroe, OK. Pallbearers will be Frank Nichols Jr., Tony Nichols, Ron Sloan, Jon Sloan, Brody Martin, Clint Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Nichols Sr., Bryce Martin, Duane Donaho and Curtis Martin, Corey Hill, & Kevin Sawyer The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

  1. Although I didn't get to say farewell to Shirley, I will always have fond memories of a special friend that once saved my life. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. Also, Mamaw would want her grandkids to remember the good times and laughter.

    This women was a wonderfull women, i remember when ronnie kay and i was around 12 r so and joe and shirley took us to the cementary to listen to the organ play at 12 midnight we was scared but we went, just getting to ride in a car was a big deal to us and get to stay out like that was great, well ronnie kay and i, ramona foster was walking through there and joe jumped out of the tree and had is coat pulled up over his head as if he was a headless person, we let me tell u we ran and ran got in the car and covered our heads, they told us storyies of a ft being in the road and at times it would run after u, she and joe was wonderfull funny people, not a dule moment around them two, u r going to be missed alot
