Clarence William Denton

Clarence William Denton, 91, of Wister, OK passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in Talihina, OK. Clarence was born October 18, 1919 in Morganton, NC to Rufus Alexander & Eliza Jane (Chapman) Denton. He was a retired rancher. Clarence served in WWII with the US Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wister, OK. He loved singing, horses, church, choir, and attending local singings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents; brother, Dewey Edward Denton; sister, Velva Speagle; and an infant daughter. Survivors include on son, Mark Denton of Martinsville, VA; 2 stepsons and their wives, Dean & Glory Young and Mike & Jeanie Young, of Wister, OK 1 stepdaughter & husband, Jacqueline & Bill King of Wister, OK; 3 sisters & brothers in law, Hazel & Phillip Davis of Morganton, NC, Evelean & Martin Millard of Aransas Pass, TX, Sue Drako of North Myrtle Beach, SC; 9 Grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends. Services will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Wister, OK with Rev. Don Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Wister City Cemetery, Wister, OK. Pallbearers will be Abby Sanchez, Debbie Knight, Keith Stewart, Mike Young, Jeanie Young, & John Sanchez. In lieu to flowers donations may be made to the Hospitality House or the Patient Fund at the Talihina VA Center, PO Box 1168, Talihina, OK 74571. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with friends and relatives.

  1. Sorry for the loss of Clarence. He did love to sing as we plus others sang together years ago. We enjoyed singing for the Senior Citizens and attend the singings at Glendale Baptist. He was always friendly and polite. He lived a long life and seemed to enjoy it. RIP Clarence!!
