William Walker Wann
William Walker Wann, 93, of Wister, OK passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 in Poteau. Walker was born on March 6, 1916 in Booneville, AR to Omer W. & Ester (Harwell) Wann. Walker was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Wister, OK and worked for LeFlore County District #2 for 43 years before his retirement. He was also a farmer & rancher & loved to garden. Walker’s wife Nell; 5 brothers, Everett, Herman, Doug, Melbourn, & Burt Wann; a sister Ethel Wisely; and his parents precede him in death.
Walker is survived by a daughter & son in law, Janice & Auther Vise of Wister, OK; a son & daughter in law, David & Marjorie Wann of Poteau, OK; 4 grandchildren, David Vise, Denise Collins, Ashley Taylor, & Cody Wann; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bonnie Raines & June Wann; a brother, Warren Wann; numerous other relatives & loved ones & many beloved friends.
Funeral services for Walker were held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Wister, OK with the Reverend Bryan Fields officiating. Interment followed the services at Maxey Cemetery in Wister, OK with arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, OK. Pallbearers were Bobby Joe Pierce, Jake Collins, Josh Collins, Brock Vise, Steve Taylor, & Cody Wann. Honorary pallbearers were Carrell Vaughn, Fred Allison, Jim Seale, & Cliff Morgan.
