Bill McMillin

William Thomas McMillin, 78, of  Poteau, Ok passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 in Poteau.  William was born in Poteau on August 27, 1936 to Arthur  "Pete" & Essie N. (Humphries) McMillin.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat and  sister, Annalee Adams.



Survivors include his daughter, Debbie & Robert Tharp of the home; granddaughter, Abby & Jody Bills of Durant, OK;  great granddaughter, Vivian Sanchez of Durant, OK; 4 brothers, Bob, of Rock Island, OK, Charles, Roger & Don all of Poteau; sister, Wanda Groom; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services  will be 3 pm, Thursday July 30, 2015  at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.   Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK.  Pallbearers will be Brad and Mark McMillin, Weylin Groom, Jeff Shockley, Haden Tharp and Jody Bills.



The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.



In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc.




Eddie Dean Moore



Eddie Dean Moore, 59, of  Panama, OK passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 in Panama.  Eddie was born June 11, 1956 in Poteau, OK to William & Shirley Ann (Pierce) Moore.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.    He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Christopher.



Survivors include his sister, Beverly Moore; brothers, Anthony Moore and Calvin   Moore ;  grandmother, Vernie  Pierce all of Panama; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 11 am, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Panama, OK.  Pallbearers will be Anthony Moore, Jason & Brad Farrar, Preston Porter, Tommy DeWitt and Jim Porritt.

Wayne Moore

  Wayne  Patterson Moore, 82, of Poteau, OK passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 in Heavener, OK.  Wayne was born March 25, 1933 in Kusa, OK to Herbert & Helen (Patterson) Moore.  He was a truck driver.  Wayne was a veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Stokes and brother, Warren Moore.



Survivors include his wife, Judith of the home; stepchildren, Grace Ford of Denver, CO, James Ford of Greenwood, AR; grandson, Patrick Ford of Conway, AR; nephews, Dr. Tim Moore of Stroud, OK, Kenny Moore of Burton,MI; niece, Sheryl Semore of Norman,OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Perkin officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. 



In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Poteau.

Fern Barnes



Fern Barnes, 88, of  Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Poteau.  Fern was born August 17, 1926 in Shady Point, OK to Paul B. & Claudie (Wilson) Walker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olen P. Barnes; infant son, Larry Lee; grandson, Larry Joe Barnes; sisters, Reva Jean Walker, Wilda Faye "Sis" Walker Goodin; brother, Billy Joe "Pete" Walker.



Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Deborah & Daryl Wood of Poteau, OK; son & daughter in law, Rudy Joe & Yvonne Barnes of Octavia, OK; sister, Shirley  J. Walker Carman of Poteau, OK; grandchildren, Brandon Wood, Eric & Rebecca Barnes, Cory & Cindy Wood, Andrew & Mandi Barnes; 9 great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



Services will be 2 pm, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau with LeRoy Billy & David Billy officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.
  Pallbearers will be Rudy Barnes, Daryl Wood, Brandon Wood, Eric Barnes, Cory Wood, Andrew Barnes.  In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Gideon's Int'l or your favorite charity.

Sarah Edna Johnson





Edna was at 2 years old diagnosed with polio and was sent to Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City and spent the next six months in an iron lung.  She came home and was told by doctors that she would never walk without braces or crutches; she would never be able to have children and would maybe live to see 50 years old.  But she always had to prove everyone wrong and argue and be right.  She sang country music and she waitressed for 35 years.  She bore many children and almost made it to 71.  She was a rule breaker, that old woman.  With all that God gave her to bear her burdens were heavy but she carried them with grace and courage.  She never met a stranger and you never questioned  where you stood with her.  Everyone that passed through her life was affected by her love and honesty.

Sarah Edna Johnson "Okie", 70, of Poteau, OK passed away  Friday, July 17, 2015 in Fort Smith, AR.  Sarah was born  August 11, 1944 in Calhoun, OK to Robert Lafayette & Flora Mae (Pool) Phillips.  She was a singer/waitress.   Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rhonda Neese; sons, Augie Chincarini & Glenn King; brothers, Waren, John & Tommy; sisters, Mae Shook, Ruth Quintana, Grace Slone and Mary Ophelia Phillips.



She is survived by her children, Julie Davis & Alfred Martin, Martha & Tom Allen, Missy Collins, Steve & Nick Sorta, Julie & Nathan Morris, Lova & Jacob Wiggers, Carmen Machado, John O'Connor; special friend, Verna Kegan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; giving special mention to her granddaughter, Amethyst Johnson, who has spent her entire young life caring for her grandmother; & her niece, Kathy Lee Phillips who made these last few years so much easier for her; brothers & sisters, Bob & Sandy Phillips of  Minola, TX, Ophelia Collins of Middletown, ID;  Billie & Gene Sanders of Bixby, OK, Martha Harris of San Antonio, TX, Wilma Phillips of Jacksonville, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins 1-7th removed, greats and great greats and friends, Oh, My!!.  She touched more lives than we could ever mention but she loved all of you.



Memorial services will be held on July 31, 2015 around 7 pm at Victor Landing, starting off the family reunion.  She was cremated so she will be there!  If you cannot be there, just walk outside about that time and know that you are with us in spirit.

Barbara "Joy" Jennings



Barbara “Joy” Jennings, age 80 of the Dayton community, passed away on July 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospice.  Joy was born on April 23, 1935 in Wyoming.  Joy will be remembered by her devotion to her family and unfailing love.  She was the strength of her loved ones until the end of her days on this earth.  She is now our angel in Heaven to watch over us.

Joy is preceded in death her husband of 57 years James “Jim” Jennings and her beloved son, John L. Jennings.  She is also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Joy is survived by her son, Jim W. Jennings and wife Sandy of the Dayton Community; her daughter, Jo L. Hall and husband Ronnie of Fort Smith, Ar.  She has 5 grandchildren that will cherish her forever, Jennifer Powell and spouse Jeremy, Lacey Witcher and spouse Garett, Mikah Hall, Adam Hall and spouse C’Anne all of Fort Smith along with Zachary Jennings (her 50th birthday present) of Rogers, Arkansas.  She has nine great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Malachi, Audrey, Amelia, Gage, Will, Wyatt, Beau and Ruby.  She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Cheney of Poteau, Oklahoma along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be at the First Baptist Church in Howe, Oklahoma at 10:00 am on Monday, July 20, 2015 with burial at the Howe Cemetery.
