Eloine Veatrice Dial Crews





Eloine Veatrice Dial Crews, 104, of Edmond, OK ( formerly of Poteau, OK) passed away February 26, 2015, in Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, OK.  Eloine was born January 19, 1911 in Holland, Effingham, Illinois to Eli Valentine and Mary Jane Netta (Sweazy) Dial the only girl among four boys.  She came to Heavener, OK with her family in 1913.  Her father was a conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad.  Eloine graduated from Heavener High School, being active in Rainbow Girls and later in Eastern Star.   In 1929 she married a local young man, Roland Alford Crews of Poteau.   In  1952 the family moved to Poteau where Eloine became active in the community with Garden Club, Eastern Star, Country Club and was an active member in the First Methodist Church.  Eloine worked for the New York Store, Town & Country in Poteau and the Boston Store in Ft. Smith.  She loved to Tole paint, sew and garden.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of seventy years Roland Crews and her four brothers, Rosco, Leland, Denzel and James Dial all of Heavener.



Eloine is survived by her only child and son-in-law Merry Roline and Jim Askew of Edmond, OK; her grandson Steve and wife Michelle Askew of McKinney, TX; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; special nephew Jim Dial of San Francisco, CA and his three children, Jim, Bob, and Carrie;  many other nieces and nephews, friends and a special friend, Peggy Talley of Poteau.


Services are scheduled for 2 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau

Evangeline Lucy Williams



Evangeline Lucy Krause Williams, 84,  of  Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Poteau.  She was born July 21, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA to Fred & Mabel (Foale) Krause.  She was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She has led an active life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK,  forty years after High School graduation with a BA in English Education.  During her busy life she worked as “Rosie the Riveter”, clerk typist, an optometric assistant, a literacy tutor, school teacher, and with the Salvation Army Thrift Store.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hershel Williams; son, Thomas Weldon Williams; brothers, Floyd  Lorraine Krause, Stanley E. Krause and her parents.

Evangeline is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Myhre of  Tahlequah, OK; Lenora Williams of Poteau, OK; granddaughters, Jennifer Myhre of Tulsa, OK; Renee  & Will White of Broken Arrow, OK; great grandson, Evan William White of Broken Arrow, OK;  sister in law, Barbara Krause of Beaumont, CA; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, Poteau, OK.   In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the First Presbyterian Church, Poteau and the Salvation Army, Poteau.

McKynsie Dawn Ward



McKynsie Dawn Ward, infant daughter of Dustin & Ashley (Dillon) Ward, went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 23, 2015 in Fort Smith, AR.  She was preceded in death by her uncles, Charlie Hudlow, Larry Hudlow, Justin Ward; great grandmothers, Cora Hudlow & Virginia Ward.

 She is survived by her parents; grandparents, Linda Dillon of  LeFlore, OK, Jerry Dillon of Pryor, OK, Wayne & Cissy Ward of Wister, OK; great grandparents, Wayne & Linda Meeks;  uncles, Jimmy Dillon of Pryor, Keith Woolery, Chass Ward, Chad Lucas, Tanner Ward; aunts, Dana Gipson, Melissa Lucas & Makayla Ward all of Wister, OK; other precious relatives & friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Friday, February 27, 2015 graveside at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK with Rev. Charlie Scott officiating.  Interment will follow.  Pallbearer will be Keith Woolery.

Services will be 2 pm, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will be in Shady Point Cemetery.

Gale Enger



Gale Edward Enger, 89, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in Poteau.  Gale was born March 3, 1925 in Kindred, ND to William & Effie (Mestad) Enger.  He worked as superintendent of sanitation for 24 years.  He was also a licensed pilot and taught flying lessons.  He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.  Gale was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Enger; one brother and one sister.



Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Cecelia of the home; one son; grandchildren, Josh, William, Jake & Rechelle; 5 great grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Diane Snell of Washington; other relatives, loved ones and friends.



The will be a private family service at a later date.

Clyde Byous


Clyde Ellis Byous, of Poteau, passed away on Friday, February 13th in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was a self-made man who started in the coal mines of Oklahoma at the age of fourteen then moved to the migrant farm camps of California in the migrations that began during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. He married Martha Covey on April 1, 1945.He was eighteen and she was fifteen. He became a carpenter in 1950 and went on to become a successful general contractor and cattleman. He and Martha, were both private pilots who enjoyed flying their Cessna aircraft. He did very well in life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Martha Covey Byous; his parents, John and Mae Byous; three brothers, Cecil, Aaron and Kenneth Byous; and one sister, Gladys Byous Parker.

He is survived by five children. Three sons and two daughter's in law, Jerry Byous and John and Lisa Byous of Poteau and Jim and Becky Byous of Savannah, Georgia; and two daughters, Joyce Byous Hair of Poteau and Veda Roush of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday evening 5PM to 7PM at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau. The funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00 PM at Ellis Chapel in Wister.

David Williams



  David Bell Williams, 82, of Pocola, OK passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Talihina, OK where he was a resident.  David was born on December 2, 1932 in Poteau, OK to Reginald Bell & Nancy Ann (Willis) Williams.  David graduated from Goodland Indian School, Hugo, OK  in 1952.  After high school he served in the Navy for 3 years and was a Korean War Veteran.  He was proud of his military service and proud to be a Choctaw Veteran.  After the Navy, David was an auto body repair and painter for 45 years – owning & operating Williams Body Shop in Pocola.    He was married to Sue Shadwick on August 29, 1975.  David was a member of the Goodland Presbyterian Church in Hugo.    David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Kenneth, Harrell Leo & Robert Frank Williams; son, Joe Cantrell & grandson Joey Cantrell.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, daughter Belinda & husband Jacky Connelly; son, Jackie Cantrell & wife Nelly all of Pocola, OK; daughters, Holly Thompson of Ruidoso, NM and Piper Darnell of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Virginia Johnson of Poteau, Ramona & husband Dr. William McCready of Seneca MO, Brothers, Neal Williams of Gilmer, TX and Reggie Williams & wife Barbara of Idabel, OK; granddaughters, Brandi & husband Matt Hendricks, Jacee & husband Caleb Banning;  Christine, Stephanie & Jordan Darnell grandsons, Rex Thompson, David Thompson & Darrien Thomas;  great grandchildren, Tatum Belle, Cadence, Christian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, February 19, 2015 graveside at Willis Cemetery, Poteau, OK with Revs. Tim Trent & Jim Cook, as well as Dr. William McCready officiating.  Interment will follow.  Pallbearers will be Rich McCready, Reggie Williams, Neal Williams, Ken Braden, Bill McCready, Jackie Cantrell, Jacky Connelly.

William Dorey



William Louis Dorey, 96, of  Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Poteau.  Bill was born December 18, 1918 in Ft. Smith, AR to Wilferd Sr.& Bertha (Woods) Dorey. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and served in WWII.  He was a devoted family man who loved God.  He was a loving man, beloved by many.  He was a business man and an active church member until his health prevented his attendance.  His wife, Wilma Lorene (Graves) Dorey, preceded him in death.  They are now reunited by Christ’s gracious love and stand in His presence.  He is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thurman, Wilferd Jr. “Buster”, Herman; sisters, Ruth Fair, Louise Walker, Dorothy White; and sons, Donald & Bobby Joe.

Survivors include is children, William Edward Dorey, Wallace Dean Dorey, Wanda Jean Dorey; his beloved daughter in law, Sandra Michele Dorey; brothers,  Leo, Bob, Rob and Harrell Dorey; sister, Wilma White; 11 Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. 

The family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 pm to visit with relatives & friends.

Billy Earl Hudgins



Billy Earl Hudgins, 84, of Howe, OK passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015.  Billy was born January 7, 1931 in Ft. Smith, AR to Earl & May (Allread) Hudgins.  Throughout his life he worked as a prison guard for the State of Virginia,  electrician; and towards the end of his life he worked as a gentlemans rancher.   He was a veteran of the US Army where he received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart w/cluster, good conduct medal, National Defense service medal, Korean service medal, combat infantryman badge, United Nations service medal, Silver Star; the Presidential Unit Citation.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenna Hudgins and brother, Harvey Hudgins.


Survivors include his children, William Earl & Joalyce Hudgins of Howe, OK, Lavana Lee & Al Bennett of Jonesboro, TN, Harvey Ray & Georgia Hudgins of Rural Retreat, VA; brother, Bobby Joe Hudgins of Las Vegas, NV; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, loved ones & friends.


Services will be 10 am, Monday, February 16, 2015 at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Petillo Hills Cemetery, Centerville, AR.

Marilyn Denning



Marilyn Sue Denning, 60, of Talihina, OK passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Talihina.  Marilyn was born May 8, 1954 in Hammond, IN to Jim & Maxine (Deering) Toland.  She was a waitress and a homemaker. 

Survivors include her daughters, Sara Denning of Sacramento, CA, Heather Denning of San Diego, CA; sister & brother in law, Donna & Joe Rauscher of San Tan Valley, AZ; sisters, Terri of Phoenix, AZ and Beverly of Schovan, LA: other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Lawrence H. Mosblech



Lawrence "Larry" Henry David Mosblech, 83, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, formerly of Panama, Oklahoma and St. Louis, Missouri passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Heroes' Haven Veteran's Health Care of The Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas.         Larry was born April 5, 1931, the 7th of 10 siblings to the late Anthony J., and Minerva (Campbell) Mosblech of St.  Louis, Missouri.  He proudly served his country as Artillery Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps, Veteran of Korean War,  and was awarded the National Defense Medal.  He traveled the world as a Civil Engineer building coal power plants in Africa,   Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and United States.  He spent years living in Indonesia and Thailand.  After construction of the AES, Shady Point Generation Plant he retired from engineering.  Larry was lovingly married to Trudy Mosblech for  the last 25 years. They called their little ranch home "Castle Rock" and together they owned and operated the Green Country Motor Inn, for many years.  The true loves of Larry’s life were his wife Trudy, his son Keith, the Marines, antique cars and the St. Louis Cardinal's and  it was anyone’s guess which one came first.  He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Anthony, Robert & Richard Mosblech of St. Louis, MO., Eugene T. Mosblech (Prescott, AZ). Two sisters; Minerva Huelsing, Sadie Bailey (St. Louis, MO.)
                      
                       Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Trudy Marie Mosblech of the home, son Jonathan Keith Webb of Fayetteville, AR. Sisters; Helen O'Brien, Rose Dysart, and Skeets Baumgartner (St. Louis, MO), several nieces and    nephews. Dear friends; Bill Ragan, Janice Thompson, George Jones, Hauns Acherman. His beloved puppies; Bentley and Gypsy.   
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Evans & Miller Funeral Home, 411 Dewey Ave., Poteau, Oklahoma.  
     Interment, with full military honors  at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO.

Christine Adams



Christine Adams, 81, of Oklahoma City (formerly of Wister, OK)  passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in OKC.  Christine was born July 11, 1933 in Wister, OK to William David & Gertrude Inez (Call) Covey.  She was a sales clerk at Anthony’s.    She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Adams on August 3, 2008.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Sue David of Muskogee, OK, Connie Jeanne Luther of OKC; sons, David Allen Adams of Ada, OK, Larry Dale Adams of Lavergne, TN; sister, Eula Mae Nelson of Wister, OK; brothers, Jack & Ed Covey of Wister, OK; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.

Services will be 1 pm, Monday, February 16, 2015 at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK with Rev. Jack Covey and Robin Zwirtz officiating.  Interment will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery.

Terry Eatmon



Terry Don Eatmon, 60, of Pocola, OK passed away Monday, February 09, 2015 in Ft. Smith, AR.  Terry was born June 23, 1954 in Ft. Smith, AR to S.W. “Sandy”  & Mary Elaine (Fannin) Eatmon.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  Terry was a construction supervisor working for Luther Stem for 31 years.  He loved to ride motorcycles, fish and spending time at the lake working on his house.  He raised cattle & bison.  He enjoyed sitting in his chair, watching TV and petting his white cat. Terry was a member of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma.  He was a Baptist.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Regenia Mayo; brother Bill Eatmon.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly “Kim” of the home; sons, Charles “Corky” & Tammy Eatmon of Van Buren, AR, Adam & Chrissy Eatmon of Ft. Smith, AR; 2 step sons, Brian & Cindy Bivins of Pocola, OK, Chase & Nikki Bivins of Hackett, AR; sister, Debbie & Tommy McClain of Greenwood, AR; 16 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, February 12th at Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola, OK with Tony Bias officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Panama, OK   Pallbearers will be Peyton Eatmon, Austin Sampson, Braxton Bivins, Logan Bivins, Jay Daniel Puckett and Stony Bias.  Honorary pallbearers will be Trace  & Jacob Eatmon, Hunter, Hayden, & Chase Bivins. 


Frances Odom



Frances Odom born October 17, 1943.  She  went to her heavenly home on February 8, 2015. Francis was a loving wife a caring mother and proud grandmother. Francis spent her younger years at Poteau hospital as a heart monitor technician;  she was very proud of this job. On December 28, 1984  Frances married her Husband Trible. She had a heart full of love and would help anyone in need but was not afraid to give you her honest advice whether you needed it or not. She continued until her final day to donate to missions in Africa. She loved the lord with all her heart.



 She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Trible Odom of Poteau, OK;  her 3 daughters Mary Odom of Poteau, OK, Julie Carr of Texarkana and Suzy Smith of Muncie, Indiana;  and 1 Son Vernon Franklin of Phoenix, AZ. She has 7 grandchildren and 5 great grand children;
brother, Donnie Foster of San Antonio, TX; sister, Wanda Rogers of Tulsa, OK; other relatives, loved ones and friends



Services will be 10 am, Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Calvary Assembly of God, Poteau, OK with Pastor Mark Hodges officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Point Cemetery, Shady Point, OK.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Rogers, Stanley Odom, Levi Brumfield and Joe Massey.

Charles George Evans



Charles G. Evans, 79, of Monroe, OK passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Heavener, OK.  Charles was born August 12, 1935 in Monroe, OK to John S. & Dollie (Gregory) Evans.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  Charles worked as a Ranch Foreman.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal Hicks and Jewell Garrett; brothers, Carmet and Wilford Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi of the home; sons, Chuck & wife Terry Evans of Hominy, OK, John & wife Heike Evans of Calhoun, OK, Doug Evans of Kiowa, OK; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grand children ; sister in law, Hazel Evans; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be 10 am - Tuesday, February 10, 2015  in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, OK.

James Larry Thomas, 66, of Monroe, OK passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Monroe.  James was born March 25, 1948 in Waldron, AR to James Henry & Madine Vivian (Duncan) Thomas.  He worked at Baldor Electric for 40 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; mother in law, Beulah Miller; grandchildren, Aiden & Kimber Burns.

Rylee Shealynn Warren, 5 months, of Wister, OK passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015.  She was born September 11, 2014 in Talihina, OK to Robert Lane & Kimberlyn Grace (Hobbs) Warren.

Ronnie Johnson



Oliver Ronald Johnson, 69, of Poteau, OK passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 in Poteau.  Ronnie was born February 2, 1946 in Poteau, OK.  He owned and operated Ron’s Diesel in  Cameron,OK.  He worked for Mack Trucks in Ft. Smith for over 35 years.  He was a deacon at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Poteau.  He loved to work and take care of his family.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Edythe Rorie and Uncle Edgar & Aunt Mabel Rorie who raised him; brothers, Jo Ed Johnson and Gary Tommy Corbin.

Survivors include his wife Carol Sue of the home; children, Misty & Wes Ritter of Shady Point, OK, Crissy & Ricky Ford, Ronnie & Tara Johnson all of Howe, OK; grandchildren, Colton & Rylan Ritter, Ty & Tavory Johnson; sister, Sherry Gwaltney Bossier City, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Kenneth Jack Hammond



Kenneth Jack Hammond, 92, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday,  January 31, 2015 in Poteau.  Jack was born in Purcell, OK to Roy & Evelyn Hammond.  Jack graduated from Purcell High School had a scholarship to play OU Football but was drafted into the US Navy the next day and he served in Puerto Rico.  After his discharge he went to Abilene Christian College where he played football for a year.  He then attended OU where he received a degree in Civil Engineering.  He worked for Dolese Concrete Company for 32 yrs as General Superintendent Ready Mix Operations. While on 6 year assignment to establish Dolese in Louisiana, he received several civic awards and served as Baton Rouge Rotary President. Jack  had a passion for Family and Friends, OU football, and Golf.    He and Betty Jane White were married March 31, 1946.  She preceded him in death on July 29, 2012. He was also preceded by siblings, Wayne Hammond,  Mildred Bond, Bob Hammond,  Son Hammond, Pat Snyder, and  Harvey Russell Hammond.



Jack is survived by his children, Kenneth Leslie Hammond DDS & wife Susan, Kenna Lou Brown, Kimberly Lauren Campbell & husband Don; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren;  siblings, Ruth Turner & Bill Carpenter; other relatives, loved ones and many friends.



A Memorial service will be held  10  am, Monday February 9, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Poteau, OK with Pastor Kyle Clark officiating.
